The Houses of Earthquake
2000 - after the big earthquake of Turkey
Istanbul Technical University, Turkey
An earthquake turns the ground into an insecure medium to inhabit. The 90 degrees intersection of the column and the beam lose their stability. The vertical gains a potential of falling in perception. The ground becomes liquefied and UNGROUND. Cylinder is the most rigid form against the diagonal forces of an earthquake. A platform in the middle serves a medium to have everything attached to. New ways of using the cylinder as a home becomes possible.
